Chapter History

The Beta Rho chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity was established at Illinois Wesleyan University on May 23, 1942 when Theta Chi absorbed Beta Kappa Fraternity because of low membership due to World War II. In the past sixty years, Beta Rho chapter has resided in two different houses, the latest one having housed the chapter since 1982. Recently renovated, the chapter house is one of the nicest living quarters on campus. The chapter also feels a special bond with the new library which was built with funds donated by alum Charles Ames and is considered one of the finest undergraduate libraries in the country (www.iwu.edu/~library).

National History

The diversity of interests in this chapter is one of the things that make it great. With members of the varsity swimming, soccer, golf, lacrosse, and volleyball teams and the Interfraternity Conference President, Vice-President and Secretary positions, Theta Chi has a strongly felt presence on campus at Illinois Wesleyan University. Other leadership positions include the Officers in Beta Beta Beta, the biology honors society and several members of Hall Councils. Brothers also participate in the Ambassadors Club, American Marketing Association, Accounting Society, American Chemical Society, Association for Computing Machinery, Omicron Delta Epsilon, Intramural Sports, Risk Management and Finance Society, Titan Law Club, Alpha Phi Omega, Jazz Band, Chorus, and Habitat for Humanity.
