What determines international attitudes toward the United States role in the world? How will the Iraqi conflict affect the U.S. ability to work with allies on other foreign policy issues? This panel examines how citizens' attitudes toward U.S. foreign policy have varied across time and space. Specifically, how has world opinion of the U.S. changed since the Iraqi conflict and how will these attitudes affect foreign policy decision makers in the U.S. and abroad. Our examination will begin with a discussion by Ms. Buenning of findings from a Pew Charitable Trust survey of more than 40 countries. Professors Munro, Mentan, and Boyd will discuss the implications of these attitudes for international relations between the U.S. and the world.
