Above the left portal is another tympanum which served as a model to sculptors throughout the Middle Ages. On the upper level, the virgin Mary is peacefully enthroned, as she receives a scepter from her son and a crown from an angel. The bottom panel depicts the royal lineage of Mary, while in the middle we witness Mary's death, attended by Jesus and the apostles.
