Wearing his late son's No. 68, Mike Schmied joined the Illinois Wesleyan co-captains for the coin toss prior to the Titans' opening game against Simpson on Sept. 3. Doug Schmied, a senior offensive lineman, died on Aug. 24. The co-captains for the Titans are Kevin Maliszewski (90), Levi Derber (43), Tom Kudyba (7), and Damon Banks (11).
