Snow Plow 1, Gates 0

The Illinois Wesleyan entry gates at Franklin and Emerson proved to be no match for a City of Bloomington snow plow on Christmas Day.

According to Director of Security Chuck Adam, the collision was reported at 2:30 a.m. on Christmas morning. Conditions at the time of the accident included deep snow on the roadways and blowing snow. Two plows were working to keep Franklin clear to Bromenn Hospital when the second plow wound up hitting the east pillar of the sign in the median of Franklin Street and knocking the pillar completely over.

Once damage estimates are complete, the gate will be rebuilt at the city's expense.
