The Park Place Economist Publishes 10th Edition

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— The Park Place Economist, a journal published by undergraduate students at Illinois Wesleyan University, celebrated its10th anniversary this spring with the 2002 edition.

Under the editorship of Katie Hampson '02, an economics major from Gurnee, Ill., the journal again features research articles by IWU students and alumni covering topics ranging from immigration in America to health care to economic freedom’s impact on socio-economic development.

In addition, this year's edition includes a brief history of the journal’s development.

The Park Place Economist is available on line. Articles in this year's edition (available in pdf format) are:

"English Language Proficiency and the Earnings of Mexican Immigrants," by Jeremy Sandford '02, an economics and Spanish double major from Elk Grove Village, Ill.;

"The Truth About the Impact of Unskilled Immigrants in America," by Sam Kwainoe '02, an economics major from Accra, Ghana;

"An Economic Analysis of the Kyoto Protocol," by Alexis Manning '04, an economics major from Lake Forest, Ill.;
