Event: Concert: Illinois Wesleyan University Jazz Ensemble, senior night

Admission: Free, open to the public

Program: The concert will feature IWU senior soloists: Andy Root in "Them There Eyes," composed by Melon and Wood, arranged by Mark Taylor; Gene Reich in "A Tribute to Art Fern," composed by Rob McConnell for the Rob McConnell Boss Brass and Amy Attivissimo in "Blackberry Winter," composed by Alec Wilder.

Also of note, Reich will solo on "Gene Jumps In," a piece he composed with assistance from 2001 IWU graduate Sean Parsons. The Jazz Ensemble will also perform "Afro-Blue," composed by M. Santamarie and arranged by IWU junior composition major A.J. Robb.

The Jazz Ensemble will perform six additional numbers including "Blue Berry Juice," composed by Shelton Berg; "I Can’t Believe You’re in Love," arranged by Billy May for the Count Basie Band; "Stompin’ At The Savoy," composed by Chick Webb for the Benny Goodman Orchestra; "I’ve Got a Crush on You," composed by George Gershwin, arranged by Dave Barduhn; "Blues and the Abscessed Tooth," composed by Matt Catingub; and "Bill Bailey," by Cannon and Holcombe, arranged by Tom Kubis for the Tom Kubis Big Band

Background: The ensemble has been under the direction of Thomas Streeter, IWU professor of brass instruments and theory, since 1971. Members of the Jazz Ensemble include both music and non-music majors.
