Illinois Wesleyan Graduate Awarded NAIW Insurance Scholarship

July 7, 2003

Illinois Wesleyan University graduate Amanda Reeley, class of 2003, is the recipient of a National Association of Insurance Women (NAIW) Education Foundation scholarship for the second year in a row.

A math and risk management double major from Danville, Reeley was awarded $1,000 by the NAIW Foundation in recognition of her achievements and her future goals. She plans to be an actuary once she passes the required exams, and will begin her career later this summer as an employee at Allstate Insurance in Northbrook. Reeley became aware of the scholarship through Tim Query, assistant professor of finance at Illinois Wesleyan University.

The NAIW Foundation, established in 1993, has awarded over 200 college and professional scholarships totaling more than $200,000. Recipients of the scholarship must have completed their sophomore year in college with at least a B average, major or minor in insurance, risk management, or actuarial science, and submit an essay about their future career goals.

The NAIW Foundation awarded 15 scholarships out of 51 applicants this year, making the program very competitive.
