Background: A Festival of African-American Music, sponsored by the University Chaplains office and organized by Kristen Gregory, a senior English major from Carbondale, Ill., will be a small trip through music history, said Gregory. Illinois Wesleyan students will perform classical music, spirituals, rock n roll, R&B, soul, pop, and gospel.
Gregory will remark at the beginning of the hour on the important influence and contributions made by African-Americans in music.
