Whether playing solo or fronting her band, fans of SONiA travel to IWU to catch this amazing singer-songwriter in concert. SONiAs songs address the difficult issues of our timefrom the political struggle against censorship to human rightsand she delivers them with powerful angst, electric and acoustic guitars, a "dylanesque" harmonica, and a big voice.
The Boston Globe calls special guest Jess Klein "a soulful dynamo. . . vibrant." A relatively new artist, Klein is already receiving voluminous praise from audiences, the press, and her peers. "Weve seen the future and it is Jess," says Marilyn Beyer of WUMB 91.9 fm, Boston. Perhaps this is why Klein was nominated for a 1998 Boston Music Award, Best New Contemporary Folk Act, even with her debut album yet to be released. "If you havent seen Klein play," insists The Boston Pheonix, "youre doing yourself a disservice."
