Background:

Dennis E. Groh ’61, is the Illinois Wesleyan University Chaplain and Professor of Humanities and Archaeology.

He was previously a Professor of the History of Christianity at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and an Advisory Member of the Graduate Faculty of Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois.

A specialist in early Christianity and the archaeology of Israel in the Roman and Byzantine Periods, Groh will be speaking to new IWU students on the significance of thinking through important decisions.

In addition to numerous chapel services and speeches at Illinois Wesleyan, Groh, an ordained Elder of the United Methodist Church, has given addresses at Albion College, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (Israel), Brown University, National Geographic Society Headquarters (Washington, DC), Oxford University (England), Princeton University, and the University of Chicago.
