Jim Ott

Jim Ott, a 1991 Illinois Wesleyan graduate and captain of the 1991 IWU men's golf team, has been the head men's golf coach at his alma mater since 2000.

During that tenure, his teams have won six College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championships (consecutively from 2001 to 2005 and again in 2008) and became the first in the league to win five straight men's golf titles since Augustana (1978-82) and Millikin (winners of eight straight championships from 1983-90).

The 2007-08 Titan team placed 12th in the 2008 NCAA Division III national championship and IWU's Chris Green was a first team All-American as a result of his second place finish at the national meet.

Ott's 2006-07 team became the first Wesleyan squad to compete in an NCAA Division III championship in 2007 and the first from the school to compete in a national tourney since the 1977 team was in the NAIA national event.

Ott was a four-year member of the Titan golf team and was the squad's "Most Valuable Player" in both 1989 and 1991.

A Plainfield (Ill.) High School graduate, Ott is employed by Bloomington's State Farm Insurance Companies. He and his wife, Kathy, have a daughter Kelsey (born May 1994) and a son Tyler (January 2000).
