The elevation of the nave is divided into three levels: grand arcade, triforium gallery, and clerestory; this particular division will become standard in the 13th century. The pillars of the grand arcade support thin bundles of columns which rise to the vault and transfer the weight of the vaulting to the more massive pillars.
