On the left, the resurrection of the dead; on the right, the weighing of souls. As elsewhere, the demon tries to cheat St. Michael out the soul being weighed. Beneath them is the partition separating the gates of Heaven and Hell. In a touching a humorous detail, the devil with flaming hair (a topos of Romanesque iconography), whose job is to shove the condemned into the jaws of Hell, cannot help looking over his shoulder at the elect, who have arrived at Heaven's gate.
