Aulnay - church of St-Pierre, exterior
The use of blind arcatures the length of the outside walls is an unusual feature of St. Pierre. The articulation of the facade is continued around the sides, creating a unity of line and a lightness of structure which add to the grace of the building. The decorative arcading of the lateral walls also visually unifies the low, more delicate nave, with the tall, massive bell tower, and helps to minimize the contrast between these two parts of the building.
