Greg Greenway

It has been with pleasure that I have presented Greg Greenway in many Blue Moon shows. He is an exciting performer and gifted song writer. He is also a bright spirit where ever he is in the world. The man just shines, and there is a goodness that is inherent in what he says and what he does. When all of that is combined in a performance, it is a blend of both grace and magic. I've seen it and felt it at the Blue Moon. I first experienced it when listening to Greg in an overfilled hotel room as he played into the wee hours at a Folk Alliance in Memphis, TN. He had earlier gone to the National Civil Rights Museum with several friends. He returned to his room awed by the experience. That night, I heard him play for the first time a song that was inspired by that visit to the museum. It was unforgettable then, as now---In the Name of Love is the first cut of Greg's latest CD, Something Worth Doing.
Catching Greg in concert is always something worth doing. Known as a one man tour-de-force, Greg Greenway is one of those difficult-to-categorize performers who have found a home in the modern acoustic genre. Originally from Richmond, VA, he moved to Boston for its rich Folk Music tradition and has become one of its most unique and superlative emissaries. Put simply, he is one of the finest entertainers you'll ever see. Musically, he draws inspiration from all over the map--gospel, rock, blues, even world music. But its central appeal is that it comes through the singular lens of Greenway's humanity and his soulful affinity for the audience. He has been described as "one of the strongest, and finest voices in folk music." The Boston Globe wrote, "Confessional one moment, rambunctiously disarming the next, few modern folk singers can own a coffeehouse stage as completely as Greenway." Another reviewer perhaps described it best, "A profoundly rich poet and musician. Folk Music is too narrow a description." To learn more about Greg Greenway, go to his web site at:
