Carrie Newcomer

Carrie Newcomer is a warm and welcome friend of The Blue Moon. Carrie returns with new songs and stories that are accessible, elemental and wrapped up with that voice. The Indianapolis Star has said, “She’s a vocalist that has an impressive range, fluidly moving from a caress to an indictment. This woman who can growl or coo is a triple treat.” A singer-songwriter who is a dynamic performer and able to touch audiences in a very personal way, Carrie delights listeners with her Midwestern storytelling and humor. She has been reviewed as amazing, haunting, strong but subtle, virtuoso, literary and poetic.
Carrie's return to the Blue Moon with new songs from a collection to be released in February, 2010---her eleventh for Rounder/Philo and twelfth overall. Fans eagerly awaiting new work from Carrie will be richly rewarded---matching the lyrical revelations is a musical bedrock drawn from elements of bluegrass, folk, blues, and classical styles, but sounding in the end like nothing but Carrie Newcomer. This night of music promises to be magical with all of the insight, artistry and wonder that is Carrie Newcomer.
Barbara Kingslover says of Carrie, “Carrie Newcomer is much more than a musician. She’s poet, storyteller, snake-charmer, good neighbor, friend and lover, minister of the wide-eyed gospel of hope and grace. All this, and she comes with a voice that declares, “Sit down a while and listen. Who could ask for more?” Certainly not her fans at the Blue Moon Coffeehouse! Her national audience continues to grow--and she still comes back to play The Blue Moon Coffeehouse. Come on you to this special CD release show for "Before and After," and welcome Carrie back to the Blue Moon Coffeehouse--arguably, the venue that she built!
