Assignment for Long Paper or Equivalent Project

Choose one of the following options.

1. Write a research paper defending a critical argument on a literary text from this class, employing a cognitive science concept in your argument. Your research should acquaint you with both theoretical material on the cognitive science concept employed and prior criticism of the literary work (if it exists).
2. Write a research paper defending a theoretical argument about or employing a cognitive science concept. Your research should acquaint you with theoretical material on the cognitive science concept and, if appropriate, on relevant literary theory.
3. Write a creative work employing a cognitive science concept either in your creative procees or in the work itself. The creative work must be accompanied by a substantial discussion (at least 5 pages) of your use of the cognitive science concept. Both the creative work and the discussion should be rooted in research on the cognitive science concept employed and, if appropriate, on other relevant theory or literary work.
4. Write a literary manifesto employing a cognitive science concept. Your manifesto must be rooted in research on the cognitive science concept employed and, if appropriate, on other manifestos, theory, or literary work.
