Informal Writing 11 (due at the beginning of the final exam period, 12/8; I recommend that you finish it before then)
Construct your own person
grammar mini-workbook, as follows:
- Identify five different grammar or punctuation
errors that you routinely make. Some errors are easier to correct than
others, so part of your grade on this assignment will be based on how well
I think you've chosen the errors to correct. In general, you should choose
errors that you make most frequently and/or errors that are most difficult
to correct (syntax errors are more difficult than habitual spelling errors;
punctuation errors lie in between). If in doubt, mix things up--choose
errors of different types.
- For each error, provide the following:
- an example of the error from your own
writing
- a corrected version of the sentence in
which the error is found
- the location of an explanation
of the grammatical rule broken (in one of the online sources listed on syllabus, for example)
- an explanation in your own words of the
rule
