Palmer Looks to Become IWU's
Winningest Hurler
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Senior righthander Adam Palmer (Naperville, North HS) needs one more win to become the winningest pitcher (by victories) in Illinois Wesleyan University baseball history.
This weekend (on April 14), Palmer was the winning pitcher in a 14-1 decision at Wheaton, improving his record for the season to 5-2. His career mark now stands at 21-13 (.618) and he is tied with Nathan Knuffman, who was 21-5 (.808) from 1995-98.
Palmer already holds the school single-season and career records with four shutouts in 2000 and seven in his career.
Palmer’s 181 strikeouts is third most in IWU history and his 240 2/3 innings is second only to Tim Kodyra, who pitched 245 innings from 1988-91. Palmer has appeared in 44 games, which is No. 4 all-time at the school.
The Titans, who are 17-11-1 overall and 7-5 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, host Eureka on Wednesday and Washington U. on Thursday. The Titans play a CCIW doubleheader at Elmhurst on Saturday, then host Elmhurst at 12 p.m. Sunday.
