The Central Illinois Chapter of the Chartered Property and
Casualty Underwriters Society Awards Two IWU Students with Scholarships

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.—The Central Illinois Chapter of the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) Society has awarded Illinois Wesleyan University students James Mullins and Amanda Reeley a $3,000 scholarship each for the 2002-2003 academic school year.

Traditionally, the Central Illinois chapter has awarded one scholarship to four area universities—Bradley University, Illinois State University, the University of Illinois and Illinois Wesleyan University, however, beginning this year, the Society had the option of awarding one additional scholarship if a school had more than one exceptional applicant. IWU students received two of the five scholarships awarded.

Reeley, a junior math/risk management major from Danville, Ill., and Mullins a junior public accounting major from Bloomington, received the scholarships based on their academic performance, extracurricular activities and a leadership essay.

The Central Illinois CPCU Society began awarding scholarships to area students in 1987. The group is a chapter of the national organization that is the largest professional association in property and casualty insurance in the United States, offering educational programs and professional certification.

Illinois Wesleyan is one of the few small universities in the country that offers a complete degree program in the field of risk management, which includes the study of insurance.
