Fiske Guide Cites Illinois Wesleyan as a "Best Buy" June 26, 2003 BLOOMINGTON, Ill. Illinois Wesleyan University is among 22 private colleges and universities nationwide to be named a "Best Buy" in the 2004 edition of The Fiske Guide to Colleges. The Best Buy list, which also includes 22 public colleges and universities, is compiled on the basis of the quality of academic offerings in relation to the cost of attendance. Edited by former New York Times education editor Ted Fiske, The Fiske Guide features extensive descriptions along with statistical data for more than 300 colleges and universities. The essays quote extensively from questionnaires completed by students at the institutions. The section on Illinois Wesleyan describes the University as "a mecca for students with preprofessional interests, especially those with unusual interest pairings like management and music." In addition, the guide says that Illinois Wesleyan is "at once cozy and diverse, loaded with opportunities for ambitious students." The Fiske Guide to Colleges is published by Sourcebooks, Inc. and is now available in bookstores. |
