Life@IWU Debuts on Admissions Web site
May 4, 2003
Visitors to the Illinois Wesleyan University Web site will get an unusual glimpse at student life through a new feature, Life@IWU.
Cameras follow four Illinois Wesleyan students through their daily activities to give prospective students and others an inside look at the University in a "Reality TV style." Using streaming video, Life@IWU goes into to the classroom and beyond, showcasing the many ways in which students interact on the campus.
Bob Murray, Associate Dean of Admissions, says that "Life@IWU gives students around the world the opportunity to learn more about the opportunities and benefits at Illinois Wesleyan. Prospective students are curious to know about college life in general. High school students interested in Illinois Wesleyan lead very demanding and hectic lives. This experience allows prospective students, sitting at a computer anywhere in the world, to 'shadow' Illinois Wesleyan students at their convenience."
Illinois Wesleyan Webmaster Curtis Kelch notes that the project was inspired by the Reality TV boon. "The students involved in this project really show what an Illinois Wesleyan student is all about. We have multi-talented students who do many things very well. This site is a showcase for prospective students, to see what a liberal arts education at Illinois Wesleyan University can provide."
This web project currently hosts four Illinois Wesleyan students Wen Wan, Katie Brokaw, Paul Michelotti, and Erin Milligan.
