IWU News Story Illinois Wesleyan University strives to provide a liberal education of high quality for all of our students, whether enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts or in one of the professional School of Nursing, Art, Music or Theatre Arts. An Illinois Wesleyan education is distinctive in giving a liberal arts direction to the curricula of the professional schools and programs and in allowing liberal arts majors access to a wide variety of professional courses as electives. We believe that our most important educational goal is liberation from ignorance and complacency. Because we assume that the mind is the key to the educated person, we hope to foster during the college years the knowledge, values and skills that will sustain all of us over a lifetime of learning. We intend, moreover, to prepare our students for responsible citizenship and leadership in a democratic society and a global community. We want Illinois Wesleyan to reflect the ethnic, racial and cultural diversity of the world. Above all, whatever their course of studies, we wish to enable Illinois Wesleyan graduates to lead useful, creative, fully realized lives. |
