Illinois Wesleyan Student Wins Spencer Scholar Award May 19, 2003 For the fifth straight year, an Illinois Wesleyan student has been selected as a Spencer Scholar. Peter Kiefor, a junior business major from Lansing, Ill., was a recipient of this prestigious national award. Only three universities nationwide have had a student win this award five years in a row. The award, in the amount of $5,000, is funded by Spencer Educational Foundation, Inc., which was established in 1979 to honor the late Robert S. Spencer, a former president of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. and Vice President for Fuqua Industries. The mission of the Foundation is to stimulate, promote and encourage promising students of risk management disciplines in fulfilling their education goals primarily by providing scholarship awards and educational grants. To be eligible for the Spencer award, a student must attend school full time with a major or minor in risk management and risk management as a career objective. The student also must have a GPA of at least 3.3, relevant work experience and leadership skills, and strong academic and employer recommendations. Kiefor, a graduate of Thornton Fractional High School, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kiefor of Lansing. Contact Anna Deters 309/556-3181
