Event: University Chapel Hour and Special Events presents: A Festival of African-American Music

Date: Feb. 26, 2003 (Wednesday)

Time: 11:00 a.m.

Location: Hansen Student Center, Illinois Wesleyan University, 300 E. Beecher St., Bloomington

Admission: Free and open to the public

Background: “A Festival of African-American Music,” sponsored by the University Chaplain’s office and organized by Kristen Gregory, a senior English major from Carbondale, Ill., will be a “small trip through music history,” said Gregory. Illinois Wesleyan students will perform classical music, spirituals, rock ‘n’ roll, R&B, soul, pop, and gospel.

Gregory will remark at the beginning of the hour on the important influence and contributions made by African-Americans in music.
