Background: Visiting Illinois Wesleyan University for a guest recital will be internationally acclaimed pianist, Aldo Mancinelli, the first American to win the coveted Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition.
A Steinway Artist, Mancinelli has performed over 950 concerts throughout Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and the United States. He has played at Carnegie Hall in New York and has been the guest soloist with major symphony orchestras including the Hague Philharmonic, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Santa Cecilia Orchestra, and the Dallas Symphony.
Mancinelli graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Oberlin, Ohio, and the Academia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. He will perform works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Robert Schumann, Charles Griffes, and Frederic Chopin. The program will include the following pieces:
Rondo in C Major, Opus 51, No. 1
Bagatelles, Opus 33
Sonata in E-flat Major, Opus 81a
Two Novelettes, Opus 21
The White Peacock, Opus 7, No. 1
Scherzo in B minor, Opus 20
