Event: The Illinois Wesleyan School of Music will present a faculty recital featuring Eric Hollenbeck, percussion instructor and lecturer in music.

Date: Feb. 13, 2003 (Thursday)

Admission: Free and open to the public

Location: Westbrook Auditorium, Presser Hall, 1210 N. Park St., Bloomington

Program: Marimba: “Of Water and Water” composed by David Hollinden, “Velocities” composed by Joseph Schwantner, “Prelude No. 3 and 5” composed by Michael Burritt

Timpani: “Steel the Thunder” composed by Jean Pichet, “March” composed by Elliot Carter

North African Tar: “Piru Bole” composed by John Bergamo

Background:
In addition to teaching percussion at Illinois Wesleyan, Hollenbeck is currently a doctoral candidate at the Northwestern School of Music, Evanston, Ill. He previously served as instructor of percussion and assistant director of bands at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Hollenbeck’s specialty is in four-mallet marimba work for which he is in high demand across the country as a clinician. His former instructors include Leigh Howard Stevens, Michael Burritt, Tom Freer, Jim Ross and Paul Yancich.
