Event: University Chapel Hour and Special Events: presents Shamanism and Shamanic Healing: Richard J. Sandore, M.D., director, Soaring Spirit, Inc., Wadsworth, Ill.

Date: Nov. 13, 2002 (Wednesday)

Time: 11:00 a.m.

Location: Evelyn Chapel, Illinois Wesleyan University, 1301 N. Park St., Bloomington

Admission: Free and open to the public

Background: Richard Sandore, M.D., became concerned that "Western medicine focuses on producing technicians, not healers" while practicing obstetrics in northern Chicago. He immersed himself in native medicine traditions and learned the difference between healing and curing. Influenced by shamanism, the use of magic for the purpose of curing the sick, Sandore changed his approach to medicine and now has a "healing" practice."

Sandore also writes, lectures, teaches, and leads spiritual and healing journeys around the world.
