Background:

42nd Street, "The Song and Dance Fable of Broadway," follows the story of Peggy Sawyer, an aspiring chorus girl, as she journeys to New York City and the lights of Broadway. Based on the novel by Bradford Ropes and the book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, the musical is an uplifting story of hard work, being in the right place at the right time, talent, and love.

Hailed by Time magazine as "A Musical made in heaven!", 42nd Street is the second longest running American musical in Broadway history. Since the opening of its pre-Broadway engagement at the Kennedy Center Opera House in July 1980, hardly a week has passed that 42nd Street has not been playing somewhere in the world. With such showstoppers as "We’re in the Money," "Lullaby of Broadway," "Shuffle Off to Buffalo," and "I Only Have Eyes for You," 42nd Street is according to fans undeniably "The Broadway musical for people who love Broadway musicals."
