Background:

Promoting the release of her ninth album off Rounder/Philo Records in eight years, Newcomer is a fixture at IWU’s Blue Moon Coffeehouse. She has played every year for the past 11 years the program has been in existence. This year, Newcomer will be accompanied onstage by Winton Reynolds on piano, and will present the IWU debut of Folk singer/songwriter, LJ Booth.

Newcomer admits that she has a keen eye for detail and tuned ears for harmony, and that she takes those skills to her performances and always trys to be evocative, thought-provoking, and moving.

Barbara Kingsolver, author of The Poisonwood Bible and The Bean Trees said of Newcomer, "To me, Carrie Newcomer is much more than a musician. She's a poet, storyteller, snake-charmer, good neighbor, friend and lover, minister of the wide-eyed gospel of hope and grace."
