Background: Compositions by Peter Gilbert will be performed.
Gilbert holds an M.M. in composition from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a B.M. in composition from Illinois Wesleyan University, where he graduated summa cum laude with recital honors. Gilbert is currently a fellow at Harvard University. He has also studied at La Schola Cantorum in Paris.
As winner of 29th International Competition of Electroacoustic Music and Sonic Art/Bourges 2002, Gilbert will hold a residency at the Institut International de Musique Electroacoustique de Bourges and will be heard at the 33rd Festival of Bourges Synthese 2003.
The New Music Series, coordinated by David Vayo, professor of composition and theory at Illinois Wesleyan, captures the musical elements of the early part of the 20th century to the present. The New Music Café highlights performances of new compositions.
