Background:

Embraced by the African-American community of San Diego, Gary Owen, who is white, won the "Funniest Black Comedian in San Diego" contest. A host on Black Entertainment Television's "Comic View," Owen earned the highest rating in the show's ten-year history. 

Owen played a recent role as a redneck deputy alongside Jamie Foxx in "Held Up," which was released in May 2000. He also stars in the feature films "Breakin' Out the Park" and "Love Chronicles," due for release this fall.
