The NCAA Student-Athlete Reinstatement Staff, in cooperation with Illinois Wesleyan, has determined that senior guard Matt Arnold will be ineligible for competition for the first eight regular season games of the 2005-06 season. In April 2005, the University received information about and began investigating activities involving the student-athlete and determined that certain activities rendered him ineligible for competition. The investigation centered around a trip in the spring to Las Vegas which involved extra benefits provided by a former University employee. IWU self-reported the infractions and actively cooperated with the NCAA in seeking to restore Arnold’s eligibility. Arnold will be eligible to practice with the team during the season and will be eligible for the Titans’ game vs. Puget Sound on Dec. 29 in Westmont, Calif.
