IWU's Amelianovich Earns Academic All-District Honor

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - For the second straight year, Illinois Wesleyan senior forward Keelan Amelianovich has been elected to the first team of the District Five College Division all-academic men's basketball squad and will join representatives of seven other districts on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America national ballot.

Amelianovich (Naperville, Ill., Neuqua Valley HS), a second team Academic All-American last season, is an accounting major with a 3.82 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) and is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma scholastic honoraries.

For the 18-3 Titans this season, Amelianovich is averaging a team-high 18.9 points and has connected on 68 3-point field goals. In his career he is No. 2 all-time at IWU with 223 3-pointers and ranks No. 11 at IWU with 1,391 career points.

IWU senior guard Adam Dauksas (Homewood, Homewood-Flossmoor HS) was chosen to the all-district second team and does not advance to the national ballot. A risk management major, Dauksas carries a 3.50 grade-point average.

The academic all-district team was chosen by a vote of members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Ontario. To be considered for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America squads, players must be of at least sophomore standing, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 (of 4.0), and be a starter or first-line reserve.

Other members of the first team all-district squad are Chris Hebeler of Monmouth (3.91, biopsychology); Lawrence's Chris Braier (3.56, biology); North Central junior forward Dan Walton (3.56, social science, history); and Keith Eckhoff of Concordia (Minn.) (3.72, elementary education). All first team members are seniors except Walton.
