Erin Brown

Hola, me llamo Erin. Estoy en mi tercer año aquí en Illinois Wesleyan y he estudiado español 7 años. Durante el semestre pasado estudié en Granada, una ciudad muy bonita al sureste de España – estaba allí 4 meses y media y a mí me encanta todo de España: la lengua, la cultura, la comida, la música, etc. Soy de Wheaton, Illinois, una ciudad al oeste de Chicago; Estudio la contabilidad y el español y me gusta mucho el baile latino. Además, a mí me gusta pasar tiempo afuera y con amigos, ver fútbol, fútbol americano y beisbol y escuchar música.

Hi, my name is Erin. I’m in my third year here at Illinois Wesleyan and I’ve studied Spanish for 7 years. I spent the past semester abroad in Granada, a very pretty city in the southeast of Spain – I was there four and a half months and I love everything about Spain: the language, the culture, the food, the music, etc. I’m from Wheaton, Illinois, a city to the west of Chicago. I study accounting and Spanish and I really like latin dancing. I also like to spend time outside and with friends, watching soccer, football and baseball, and listening to music.

Kari Grace

Kari estudia la sociología, español y los estudios medio ambientales en Illinois Wesleyan. Ha viajado a varios países hispanohablantes y pasó un semestre en Ecuador. Le gustaría conocer más países de Latinoamérica. A Kari le gusta leer, aprender, mirar programas de televisión e ir de compras.

Kari studies Sociology, Spanish and Environmental Studies at Illinois Wesleyan. She has traveled to several Spanish-speaking countries and spent a semester in Ecuador. She would like to visit more countries in Latin America. Kari likes to read, learn, watch TV shows and go shopping.

Kristy Hosack

Kristy es en su cuarto año en Illinois Wesleyan University y ha estudiado español desde la escuela media. Sus concentraciones en la universidad son la historia y español y después de graduarse, quiere ir a la escuela de derecho para ser abogada. En la primavera de 2009, Kristy estudió en Madrid, España con el “Madrid Program” y aprendió mucho sobre el idioma y la cultura española. A Kristy también le gusta, ser voluntaria, leer, pasar tiempo con los amigos y la familia, y participar en las actividades en IWU (como el periódico, The Argus, APO, Kappa Delta, etc.)

Kristy is a senior at Illinois Wesleyan and has studied Spanish since she was in middle school. She is majoring in history and Spanish and wants to go to law school after she graduates in order to become a lawyer. In the spring of 2009, Kristy studied in Madrid, Spain with the Madrid Program and learned all about the Spanish culture and language. Kristy also likes to volunteer, read, spend time with her family and friends, and participate in various activities at IWU (like The Argus, APO, Kappa Delta, etc.).

Paola López Baena

Paola nació en Jerez de la Frontera, en la provincia de Cádiz al sur de España. Comenzó sus estudios en Traducción e Interpretación en la Universidad de Granada, una de las universidades españolas más prestigiosas en este campo. Se graduó el pasado mes de julio como traductora e intérprete de inglés como primera lengua extranjera. Atraída por el pasado árabe de Granada, decidió empezar a estudiar árabe. Gracias a su carrera, viajar se ha convertido en una de sus pasiones y esta vez toca descubrir EE.UU. Le encanta la fotografía, el cine, los juegos de mesa y bailar.

Paola was born in Jerez de la Frontera, in the province of Cadiz in the south of Spain. She studied Translation and Interpreting at the University of Granada, one of the most prestigious universities in Spain in that field. She graduated last July as a translator with English as her first foreign language. Attracted by the Moorish history of Granada, she decided to take Arabic classes. Thanks to her career, travelling has become one of her passions and now it’s time to discover the US. She loves photography, cinema, board games and dancing.

Alex Monzón

My name is Alex Monzón and I am a Hispanic Studies major at Illinois Wesleyan University. My dad is an immigrant from Mexico and has been speaking Spanish to me since I was an infant. I studied Spanish in Junior High and High School. I visit Celaya, México frequently to visit family. I studied for four weeks in Cuernavaca, México last may and will be studying in Barcelona, Spain next spring. I hope to get a job or continue to study somewhere in Latin America. I like to read, cook, and watch Food Network and Travel Channel. My favorite dish is pozole, all kinds.

Me llamo Alex Monzón y estoy consiguiendo una concentración en Estudios Hispanos en la Universidad de Illinois Wesleyan. Mi papá es un inmigrante de México y siempre me ha hablado en español conmigo. Estudié español en la Junior High y la High School. Reúno con mi familia en Celaya, México frecuentemente. Tomé clases en Cuernavaca, México por cuatro semanas en mayo y estudiaré en Barcelona, España la primavera que viene. Espero trabajar o continuar mis estudios en algún país de América Latina. Jason Roeschley

Jason vino a IWU para ser profesor de música (de hecho toca el piano y el órgano), pero cambió su carrera a español. Estudió en México por cinco meses y quiere conseguir su maestría con una concentración en traducción o pedagogía después de graduarse. Tras eso, ¿quién sabe?

Jason came to IWU to be a music teacher (he actually plays the piano and the organ), but he changed his major to Spanish. He studied in Mexico for five months, and he wants to get his Master's degree with a concentration in translation or pedagogy after graduating. After that, who knows?

Beth White

Beth está en su cuarto año en Illinois Wesleyan. Ha estudiado en Granada, España durante el semestre pasado. ¡La experiencia fue una aventura maravillosa! Ella tiene ganas de volver a Granada en el futuro. Cuando Beth está aquí en Bloomington, estudia psicología y estudios hispánicos. Le gusta la música y le da alegría cantar. Sus intereses incluyen libros, arte, historia, y muchos programas de televisión.

Beth is a senior this year at IWU. Last semester she studied abroad in Granada, Spain. The experience was a wonderful adventure. She hopes to one day return to Granada. When Beth is here at IWU, she studies both psychology and hispanic studies. Beth loves music and enjoys singing. Her other interests include books, art, history, and many different TV programs.

German Tutors

Coco Bassey

Coco ist Studentin im vierten Jahr, und sie kommt aus Nigerien. Sie lernt Deutsch seit 2003, und studiert sowohl die Sprache als auch Internationale Beziehungen als Hauptfächer. Sie machte ihre Oberschule in Berlin und studierte noch einmal in der Stadt während des Frühling 2009 Semesters. Coco verbringt ihre Zeit beim Lesen, Musik hören, sich die Gitarre unterrichten, oder einfach mit ihren Freunden!

Coco is a senior at Illinois Wesleyan from Nigeria. She has been learning German for seven years, and is studying International Studies and German as her majors. She went to high school in Berlin, and also studied in Berlin during the Spring 2009 semester. She spends her free time reading, listening to music, learning the guitar, or hanging out with her friends!

BethAnne Roberts

BethAnne Roberts ist eine vierte Jahr Studentin und hat Deutsch und Englisch–Schreiben als Hauptfächer, und Musik als Nebenfach. Sie studierte Deutsch schon funf Jahren und im Deutschland im Frühling 2009. Sie verbringt ihre Freizeit mit Klettern, dichten, und ihre traumhafte Gitarren. Sie liest gern von Typographie und Haifische.

BethAnne Roberts is a senior with majors in German and English-Writing, and a minor in Music. She has studied German for five years and studied abroad in Freiburg, Germany in Spring of 2009. In her spare time she enjoys rock climbing, writing poetry, and spending evenings in with her gorgeous guitars. She likes reading about typography and sharks.

My name is Mana Narita. I am an exchange student from Keio University, Tokyo,Japan. My major is Law and Politics and currently focusing on International Relations. I’ve been learning French, too.
