Welcome!

This webpage represents the collective efforts of Illinois Wesleyan
students who took the class, Teaching About 9/11 during the spring,
2006 academic year. During the course of the semester, we read about
the documented facts surrounding the attacks that were carried out on
9/11,  we learned about the planning of those attacks and we
investigated their influence upon governmental reform and U.S. foreign
policy. We discussed the nature of terrorism in broad terms and
investigated some of the principles within differing sectors of Islamic
thought and practice. We also read plays, poetry, and literature
inspired by the events of 9/11 and discussed its impact upon popular
culture.

Early on during the term, members of the class decided that it was
important to use the knowledge gained from class readings, discussions
and investigations to enhance one's teaching, and to share that
knowledge with other teachers and education students. This website
represents that effort and is presented with that aim in mind.
