Gant, Johnson Earn All-Conference Honors

Illinois Wesleyan senior Darius Gant has been chosen to the first team of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin all-star squads in voting today by league coaches and his teammate, freshman Sean Johnson, earned third team honors.
A 6-foot-4 forward from Oswego, Ill. (HS), Gant led the league with 11.1 rebounds per game and with 4.64 offensive boards per game. He finished fifth in field goal percentage at .551 (70 of 127) and tied for 13th with 12.9 points per game.
A 6-foot-1 guard from Washington, Ill. (HS), Johnson was third in CCIW play with 2.64 3-pointers per game. He tied for 10th with 2.57 assists, tied for 13th (with Gant) with 12.9 points per game and was 15th with a .363 3-point field goal percentage.
The Titans, who were 9-5 and tied for second in the CCIW, led the league stats in rebounds (36.7) and 3-point field goal defense (.323) and finished third in scoring (70.8) and field goal defense (.446). Wesleyan was fifth in field goal percentage (.448), sixth in 3-point field goal accuracy (.362) and last in the league with a .622 free throw percentage.
Freshman guard Travis Rosenkranz (Macon, Ill., Meridian HS) led the league with a 2.07 turnover/assist ratio and was secind with 4.0 assists per game in CCIW play.
For the second straight year, Wheaton's Kent Raymond is the winner of the "Fred Young Most Outstanding Player" award and Augustana's Grey Giovanine was tabbed "Coach of the Year" for the third straight season.
The player award is named for 1915 IWU graduate Fred Young, who was the conference's first commissioner and served in the position for 17 years. He was a longtime sports editor of The Pantagraph and starred at IWU in basketball, baseball and tennis. The former fieldhouse at Illinois Wesleyan was named in his honor.
