Director of Advancement Systems

The Director of Advancement Systems is responsible for overseeing all system and database activities within the Office of Advancement. The Director is the key leader in managing and supporting a sophisticated Customer Relationship Management (CRM) across all Advancement teams including its Annual Giving, Alumni Engagement, Communications, Major Gifts, and Stewardship departments. This role requires a strong knowledge of information systems and how to integrate them. They will oversee all gift processing, entry, data maintenance processes and procedures, testing and integrity. This is a full time, benefits-eligible position; remote work within approved states will be considered with travel to campus one week a quarter, or as operationally needed. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee database management and execute requests from the Office of Advancement departments and University partners utilizing our CRM (Slate for Advancement); provide tools to empower Advancement staff to identify opportunities, create reports and lists to engage constituents, and analytics to measure outcomes; create new and maintain existing constituent and fund records within Slate; drive the operational flow to provide timely support to Advancement staff and University partners; manage and maintain adherence to IRS gift policies, acknowledgement data requirements and University and industry standards.
  • Provide leadership, management and direction to reporting staff (Gift and Records Coordinator and Systems Analyst); coordinate workflows with any third party database vendors and consultants (Slate, DonorSearch, iWave); manage the CRM or systems  budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support systems activities and initiatives; identify and implement process efficiencies using best practices in data management, gift processing, and stewardship.
  • Explore professional development, and execute duties as assigned; attend meetings and participate in training to stay current on and Slate for Advancement best practices.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s required
  • Minimum of five years related Advancement services experience
  • Understanding of fundamental Database Management System (DBMS) concepts and exposure to at least one relational DBMS: Slate for Advancement, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, MySQL
  • Experience with technical systems, relational datasets, data warehousing, and data analysis techniques
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and data mining skills
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, tax and IRS regulations related to charitable contributions

Salary $69k-$74k, based on experience.
