Civic Engagement Beyond Words Madeleine Callahan, adjunct instructor of French in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures, has been involved in the Clare House since 1989. The Clare House has two locations in Bloomington, one a soup kitchen, the other a food pantry. The Clare House works hard to keep the underprivileged fed, and could use volunteers, especially during the holiday season. Professor Madeleine Callahan also participates in Special People Encounter Christ, or SPEC, which is a program of religious education for children and adults with speical needs. SPEC provides individual instruction, group activities and social events, including music and art. Anyone interested in becoming an instructional partner, offering their musical talents, or driving should contact Professor Madeleine Callahan to find out how to get involved.
